EAGLE SCHOOL of MICROLIGHTING

The Eagle School of Microlighting is located at the base of Mount Buffalo and operates from the Porepunkah airstrip virtually seven days a week. This area is protected from the strong winds that are more common to the coast, and with the weather north of Australia's Great divide being more stable, this region is an ideal place to learn to fly. To top everything off, Victoria's Bright region is one of our prime tourist locations, having abundant restaurants, a variety of accommodation and excellent facilities to ensure that you and your family or friends will have a great time. The scenery is breathtaking and the flying is among the best there is!

WHO ARE WE?

The EAGLE SCHOOL of Microlighting is owned and operated by Stephen & Lisa Ruffels who have over 41 years of combined weight-shift flying experience. The Eagle School was started in 1988 and as Victoria's longest running Microlight school has established itself as one of the best, most reliable flying schools in Australia. Steve Ruffels is a Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) accredited by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to issue pilot certificates. He started flying hang gliders in 1976 and has been involved in the sport ever since. Lisa Ruffels, is also a CFI, fully certified by the Hang Gliding Federation of Australia and is the only female CFI in Australia qualified to teach Microlighting. Stephen and Lisa have taught people from all walks of life, from every Australian state and from overseas to become competent and confident Microlight pilots. We continue to stick by our deep commitment to ensuring that, every new pilot will achieve her/his dream of flight in a safe and supportive environment above and beyond their licence course.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

We also realise that for most, triking is a hobby, and that our students usually have other commitments to juggle when learning. The school is sensitive to this and prides itself on not only being well organised when students are present, but also remaining flexible enough to meet the availability times of its students. Having two instructors available allows us to train two students together, should you wish to learn with your spouse or a friend.

EXPLORE YOUR DREAM.

This form of flying allows you to explore places you've only dreamed of in the past. It gives you freedom and independence, which is synonymous with flying. It is a new hobby that will see you through well into your retirement years and beyond and that you can directly share with your friends. Together, we have flown extensively up the East coast of Australia basing our school on the Queensland Atherton Tablelands and have just recently completed a solo trike safari through Central Australia. Recently, we made history, landing the first trike at Mt.Hotham airport amidst the snow. Just a hop away from where you'll be training. We look forward to training some new students so that they too, may taste the freedom of this sport and start building up their own diary of adventures.
